About the Artist

Hi, I’m Nicka

I’m an artist, educator, traveler, and deeply sentimental human who believes art has the power to help people feel seen, understood, and connected.

I was born in South Africa and immigrated to the United States when I was eight years old. Growing up, I became very aware of the sacrifices my parents made to create new opportunities for our family. Following my dreams as an artist has become one of the ways I honor their courage. I try to live authentically, remain curious, and build a life centered around creativity, connection, and meaningful experiences.

The Person Behind the Paintings

When you hire me, you are not only hiring someone to create a beautiful piece of art. You are inviting in someone who cares deeply about the people and stories behind it.

I am a sensitive person who values genuine connection and naturally wants others to feel comfortable and cared for. I am also a recovering people pleaser, which has taught me how to listen thoughtfully while still bringing my own creative perspective to every project. My goal is not to simply execute an idea. It is to understand the heart behind your vision and bring it to life through my own unique lens.

I am also goofy, curious, and always ready to laugh. I love meeting new people, traveling, trying unfamiliar foods, learning about different cultures, and saying yes to new experiences. Whether I am painting at a wedding, collaborating on a custom commission, or creating alongside guests at an event, I want the experience to feel warm, relaxed, and genuinely enjoyable.

Rooted in Connection

At the center of my work is a fascination with what connects us.

My personal oil paintings explore the relationship between human experience and the natural environment. Through my fine art practice, I reflect on emotional resilience, belonging, vulnerability, climate change, and the invisible systems that shape both people and the world around us.

That same philosophy carries into my client work. Whether I am painting a couple, a family, a beloved pet, a meaningful venue, or guests gathered for a celebration, I want the finished artwork to honor the relationships and memories that give life its meaning.

Art for Every Story

I proudly welcome and serve people of every race, culture, religion, gender identity, and sexual orientation. Love, family, celebration, and belonging can take many forms, and every person deserves to feel represented, respected, and safe throughout the creative process.

I am especially passionate about creating art that honors people authentically, while also using my voice and personal work to advocate for the environment and a more thoughtful, compassionate world.

More Than a Finished Piece

The artwork matters, but so does the way you feel while it is being created.

I want you to feel listened to. I want your ideas to be treated with care. I want your guests and loved ones to feel welcomed and appreciated. Most of all, I want the final piece to feel personal to you, not like something that could belong to anyone else.

Every project is an opportunity to celebrate a person, relationship, place, or story worth remembering. It is a privilege I never take lightly.

A Few Things I Love

Traveling somewhere new, sharing a great meal, learning about different cultures, painting florals, noticing small details, meaningful conversations, laughing until my stomach hurts, and creating artwork that brings people closer together.

Let’s Create Something Meaningful

Whether you are planning a wedding, gathering people for a special celebration, or dreaming about a custom piece of art, I would love to hear the story behind what you are creating.
